“It’s normal at the beginning of your spiritual path to rely on the paths that have been carved by others. The challenge becomes when we rely on that teacher or on that path to dictate for us our life. That same path that created your awakening becomes the weight that holds you back. It can only take you so far; eventually, the journey is within. This is what spiritual sovereignty means to me.”
Mentioned in the episode:
Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse [book]
Kabbalah
The Stoned Ape Theory
Where to find Yossef Sagi:
Growing up, Yossef was an inquisitive child. He asked all the deep philosophical questions that no adult could answer about life, the universe and everything. Some may have called him an ‘old soul’ - most called him ‘weird’.
At the tender age of ten he became entwined with a spiritual organization that taught an ancient esoteric study called ‘kabbalah’. For the next 25 years he became fluent in the knowledge, practices and rituals and grew from student to teacher. The journey drew to an end as he discovered himself to be involved in a cult. He then found himself in his mid-30’s doubting everything he learned - having lost his community, identity and connection to a higher source. He was lost and became a seeker of truth.
His journey explored two previously shunned and shamed paths: - The first, to tantra and with it a connection to his body and raw expression of his sexual energy. - The second, to plant medicine and the discovery of an inner wisdom truer than any found in the pages of books or mouths of gurus.
When all seemed lost, it was sex & drugs that saved his spirituality. Today, carving his own path into the conscious realm, Yossef leads others into living their lives on their terms using their own inner wisdom as a guide.
“What I feel called to right now is the link between spiritual sovereignty and sexual expression. Through my studies, it has become very clear to me that there is so much repression of creative ability because of our unhealthy relationship with our sexuality. Sexuality is the prime force that literally creates new life. If you want to be a manifester and co-create, and you don’t have a healthy relationship to [your sexuality], how can you do it? Only to a certain degree until you will be blocked. Our divine power is that connection to that sexual creative energy. Plant medicine can help us tap into it.”
