005: DoubleBlind Magazine | Founders Shelby & Madison On Re-Shaping Psychedelic Culture, The Truth About Psychedelics, and Their Journeys

We say that we are using psychedelics as a jumping off point to look at social equity, environmental justice, spirituality, mental health, policy, medicine and from there we try to find interesting and timely stories with good characters that also have an interesting visual element as well; to really re-shape the way people see psychedelic culture.

LISTEN

Welcome, Shelby and Madison from DoubleBlind Magazine to the podcast! Shelby and Madison are the co-founders of DoubleBlind - a media company and education platform at the forefront of the rapidly growing psychedelic movement!

If you feel that if it’s important for you to explore psychedelics and you want to come out [of the psychedelic closet], you need to consider what the possible repercussions could be. If there are serious repercussions, then start small. Start with the people closest to you and ask them to keep it confidential. It’s a really good way to practice coming out by starting with your best friend or someone who you know loves you unconditionally and isn’t going to judge you. You also might consider finding a psychedelic community.

My experiences on psychedelics have been so tied with my development as a person; it’s really hard to say who I would be had I not done psychedelics... I just started questioning everything. It was a very classic adolescent existential crisis. What has meaning? What has values? What have I inherited? What’s mine? What’s not mine?
